Designed by the Jean-Baptiste Lacoudre architecture firm, the South research building houses research units of CNRS, EHESS, Université Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, Sorbonne Nouvelle, and Sorbonne Paris Nord.



It is located halfway between the GED Library and the Front Populaire metro station. The ground floor (or “active base”) space is dedicated to seminar rooms and the students from Campus Condorcet member institutions. The union offices, a brasserie, and a medical and social care hub are also located there. The upper floors, which are reserved for researchers, administrative personnel, and research support staff, contain offices (private and shared), meeting rooms, and break rooms.

The Architect’s vision

“Rather than being enclosed in siloed areas, the building’s spaces are purposefully fragmented and permeable. The park bleeds into the patios and spaces in the building’s surface open onto the landscape, providing multiple viewpoints--the sign of a good landmark.”
