The Maison des langues et des cultures d’Aubervilliers (MLC) was founded in 2018, the result of a large community engagement exercise conducted in December 2016 entitled “Les rencontres citoyennes d’Aubervilliers.” It has been housed at 43 rue des Postes in Aubervilliers since April 2019.
Its goal is to bring together institutions, associations, and others engaged in the cultural, research, and education sector such as teachers and city officials, to celebrate the cultural and linguistic diversity of Aubervilliers by promoting intercultural exchange, French language learning, and multilingualism.
The MLC offers language and culture classes and workshops in French, and organizes events such as “Language and Culture Thursday” and multicultural celebrations that are free and open to all from 9am to 7pm Monday to Saturday. It is also interested in partnerships that align with its organizational objectives.
The MLC also hopes to build strong relationships with neighbouring research and education communities, particularly Campus Condorcet, to explore issues pertaining to multilingualism and interculturality by creating programs and projects that bring together area residents, the local non-profit network, students, researchers, and teaching faculty members.
